Adrenaline pumping like a pouncing lion, mouth drier than the Sahara in August, lungs wheezing like an asthmatic retiree climbing Everest …. it’s time for CIRCs again!
The Masters Men made made a clean sweep of their events in the morning, with Ian Marshall, Simon Vouilloz, Shea Birch and Hiyosoki Kawasaki each winning their category.
In the Junior program, Amanda Caromicoli and Lexi Wright took two medals in the Junior-A Girls category, finishing 2nd and 3rd with only 0.5 seconds between them (7:09 and 7:10). Will Sati won a Silver medal in the Junior-A Lightweight event with a time of 6:35, with Connor Newell taking 4th place in 6:43. Marcus Doyle was 3rd in the Junior-A Boys, with a time of 6:22. In total, a stunning 25 Junior rowers posted Personal Best times, casting eternal shame on the rest of the club.
Special mentions also go to certified madmen Shea Birch and Mike Forgeron, who did 4 races and 3 races respectively, including the Father-Daughter event. Congrats to former DRC skyscraper Jordan Weide for winning the Senior Open Men in 6:05.
